Pension & Retirement Planning
Pensions are the most tax-efficient way to save for retirement whether that be through a SIPP, SSAS, Stakeholder, Personal or Workplace plan; but building up a pension fund is only one half of the retirement planning process. Perhaps more important is the question of what to do with it when retirement arrives, whether that is stepping back fully from work, or transitioning over a period of time.
In the past the process was simple, take a tax-free lump sum and buy a lifetime annuity. However today, there are many options including:
- Lifetime Annuities – payable throughout life and may include spouse/partner benefits, guarantee periods or return of unused fund on death.
- Fixed Term Annuities – these are similar to Lifetime Annuities, but payable for a specified period only.
- Phased Retirement – staged benefits which might include a combination of tax-free cash, annuity and Drawdown pension.
- Income Drawdown – which involves leaving your pension fund invested and drawing an income directly from it.
The above is not an exhaustive list and with the range of options available today, how and when benefits are taken is an area where advice has never been more important and is a core focus of our business.

Chartered Financial Planners
Across the professional landscape, from accountants to civil engineers, insurance brokers, and financial planners, Chartered status stands proud as an indicator of the highest standards of learning and ethical behaviour. As a Chartered body of more than a century’s standing the CII grants Chartered titles to individuals and organisations which meet strict qualifying criteria.
What Chartered Status Means For Our Clients
When selecting an Advisory or Wealth Management form to work with, it is important that the firm is ethical and puts your interests first, and that its people are competent, knowledgeable, and committed to maintaining their professional capabilities.
These are precisely the qualities embodied by Chartered status – the reason we are proud to have achieved the title Chartered Financial Planners.
Chartered status is an objective mark of professional standing among all professions. It is awarded to firms that can demonstrate commitment to developing knowledge, enhancing capability, and maintaining ethical standards.
